What's up guys just like what it says up top gonna start my first custom marker project. Its gonna be on an impulse platform. I'm trying to make the lightest and fastest impulse possible.

Little background on myself (first post after all) name is erik, I'm 27 years old, played paintball for the first time 10 years ago started with a spider tl then upgraded  to a strange vision one year after first started playing. then stopped playing at age 24 (college got harder and money got tighter). Graduated with a degree in automotive engineering and design. So now I'm just getting back into paintball, and took out the strange imp out of the closet. Played last month and all these teenage little brat that I was playing with called my gun an antique, and they called me poor since my gun cost like 100 bucks on Craigslist and told me to go play with the rentals. So I got pist and did my very best to take them out on the field.

So wanting to bring back the glory to my impulse I want to revamp the design and performance to our old guns. I'm gonna list the mods I wanna do to my gun and if you guys can comment on them if they would add or reduce the performance of the gun. Goals lightness, efficiency, and speed close to 30 bps. And looks

Mod 1 body - body will be trimmed down to the lightest in can be, then I would add style structural support by pressure molded carbon fiber. The design would have the style like the nexus autococker. (my favorite looking marker)

Mod 2 internals - rat valve, slick shot ram, equalizer bolt and a custom hammer ( gonna be playing with the hammer, will use different alloys like titanium, magnesium or  other metals. Titanium pin.

Mod 3 trigger frame - gonna me using the i frame as inspiration, gonna do a direct copy but will be using a cnc ed block of carbon fiber to reduce the weight.

Mod 4 noid - not sure about the direction ima take on this one yet was thinking of using another marker's noid that has been known to get close to 30bps and just retro fit it into the gun.

Mod 5 tape worm track - still researching if I can do this. Since I want as slim of a profile as posible I might have to shrink down the tube that runs on the right side of the gun. Since the tape worm is significantly smaller then that tube I might be able to get a long piece of aluminum, weld it to the port holes on the side and machine a hole down the center of the tube to connect the noid and the lpr.

Mod 6 board - I have no idea info and recommendations would be appreciated. Haven't gone this far yet. Might just take the board off the marker that I take the noid from and just customize it onto the frame. But deff want something with laser eyes.

So yea that's all the mods I've been thinking about in my head. Will be getting the body sometime next week, and will be taking it to a machine shop to take off the excess weight. All comments will be appreciated.

Thanks Erik

This sounds like an aggressive project.  There is some info about modding other boards in the Library section.  Sounds like you have experience with Carbon Fiber forming and milling.  Keep us informed with pictures etc..

That is quite the project you are undertaking there! Can't wait to see how it turns out. Few notes...

Mod 1 - you can take off a few "chunks" of metal from the bottom of the body. Elia and Tarantula use to do this back in the day to lighten the impulse. I have seen pics but they are eluding me right now. I'll find them though and post back.

Mod 2 - this pasrt is easy. I personally am not even sure if I would mess with a custom hammer. try to find a rat hole hammer and go with that. Plus if you make the hammer too light, it may make the gun less efficient.

Mod 3 - Carbon fiber i frame? Siiiick!

Mod 4 - I have heard of people using an Intimidator solenoid in an impulse. Pair that up with a Universal T board and some Scenario dreams BB eyes and you should be looking good. Or better yet, mod a Tadao board or find an old Morlock board. Drool.

As far as the tapeworm mod, I have no clue! haha

thanks guys. i cant wait to finish this project, its gonna take a whille since im kinda doing 2 things that have never have been done on a marker before. already ordered 50"x2yards of carbon fiber and high stengh resin. been doing some research on the tapeworm track and this is what i found.

looks like i could use a smaller hole for the worm track and use a qev or just a simple air barb to connect the noid and the lpr. any of you guys know of a person that mills impulse body (unfortunately tarantula is not milling bodies out as of late) i could have them mill me out one with a smaller diameter hole. With a smaller hole i can take even more material off the body.
