Quick question fellas.

Is there anyway to identify a slik shot that is already on a hammer assembly? I pulled the hammer assembly out of an impulse that I recently picked up and found it had a SS rathole hammer on what looks to be a stock assembly. I was curious if it had a slik shot as well.

I can throw up some pictures if need be.

Also, how many grains are in a gram? The entire assembly comes out to 102.5 grams. I figured the weight would also help me determine what I have.

Thanks in advance.

If you slide the hammer all the way back into the housing with the end cap off, you can tell by the amount of space inside the assembly.  The silk is longer than the regular rod and so it takes up more space in the back end.  Instead of like a 1/4" deep cylindrical space, you have an 1/8" or so.
I made an Excel spreadsheet with the grain to gram conversion for figuring out the weights.  Here is on online.  http://www.unitconversion.org/weight/grains-to-grams-conversion.html

Thanks for the input black.

With the back cap off, the rammer on the assembly I have seems to stop just short of the end of the tube. Looks to be about "1/8 as you said but I'm not sure if i'm looking at it correctly.

When I weight it, the entire assembly comes out to 102.5 grams or 1580 grains. Seems pretty heavy.

Stock ram shaft?

I weighed a standard shaft and it's o-ring at about 14.5 grams or 223.77 grains and a treated Slik shot shaft and it's o-ring at about 17 grams or 262.35 grains.

The photos show that the Slik is a bit longer.  The one with the two ram housings shows that the Slik pretty much ends up being flush to the back end while the stock has a gap of about 1/4".  The little brass 1 gram weight between the two housings is just about flush to the edge sitting on the stock shaft end.

Forgot to mention for clarity.  In the shafts picture, the Slik is on the right.  In the Ram Housing picture, the Slik is on the left.

Thanks a lot!

Judging from the picture it definitely looks like I have a slikshot installed.

Still seems to be weighing out pretty heavy on my gram scale..
