Looks like #1000 to me...but I could be wrong.

...or did you mean in the first production line of Impulse

it does say 1000, but I have never seen or heard of any Impulse that has a lower number. I got his picture from Smart Parts. It was the gun shown on their website when the impulse was first released.

Hmmm, that's possible I guess.
Kinda like starting your first checkbook at 500..as opposed to 0. (if that analogy makes any sense)

Does anyone find the lack of dwell pots or a power button interesting?

The old imps didnt have a power button but rather a slide switch on the other side. It does have the original style grips. Also an old all-american style barrel, gas-through gadget grip, sight rail, bolt-on low-rise feed neck and a newer style short cap on the maxflo.

Maybe I should clarify this a bit for newer Imp people. Early production/Special Edition Imps came with Progressive barrels, NO for-grips or verticle regs till later, no site-rails, high-rise(smokestack) feednecks and had the long style caps on the maxflo (about 1" longer). I also seem to remember something about the numbers actually starting at 01000 and not 00001.

Damn, I didn't even notice that. Good eye!

Sweet! That could very well be the reason why it doesn't have a power button or dwell pots.

I've held that very gun A LOT of times... Once SP was done with the photoshoot that gun was boxed up and sent to C.O. Paintball in Columbus, OH. I ran the show room at CO back then and we had that gun as a demo for a long time. Same thing with the Freak barrel kit, we had the first one that ever left Smart Parts.

Cool history.  Thanks for sharing.
That was one of the cool things about working there, we were a huge Smart Parts dealer and anytime they came out with something new we were normally the first store to have it in. Our store team "Freak Factory" was a SP team and the Gardners used to stop by all the time. We used to have the ALL A's and the ALL A's 2 over for practice all the time as well as Lockout and a few other big teams from back in the day. C.O.P. was also the only place to buy a Freak Factory Impulse for awhile after they came out, we had the exclusive sales rights for them then...Even if you called Smart Parts to order one they made you go through us.
